Over the last month, we've been working hard on something that we think you're really going to love.
We've just launched a brand new section in the app: the Learning Hub. And the first big feature of the Learning Hub is our brand new AI buddy, ready to chat with you in Chinese!
Let's see what makes this feature so cool.
Chat with your Chinese AI buddy
There are plenty of AI apps out there that let you practice languages. But most of them are generic, trying to cover dozens of languages at once. That makes it hard for them to be great for any one of them.
We're doing things differently.
We are focused on Chinese, so our AI buddy is designed specifically to help you learn Mandarin more effectively. We thus integrated it deeply with the rest of the app:

Not sure what a word means? Tap to look up any word and jump straight to its dictionary entry — including pinyin, audio, and example sentences.

Want to remember a new word? Add it to your flashcards with a single tap. No need to leave the chat.

See an instant English translation or listen to audio for any message. This makes it great for both reading and listening practice.
Practicing Chinese is as easy as chatting with a friend.
Practice real-life situations
The AI buddy isn't just small talk. It's designed to help you practice real scenarios you might face while living, traveling, or working in a Chinese-speaking environment.
There are over 30 different situations you can explore, like ordering food at a restaurant, asking for directions, talking about your hobbies, or dealing with travel mishaps.
To keep things interesting, we've added almost 1,000 unique challenges for these scenarios. For example: "You dropped your wallet while leaving a convenience store. You ask the store clerk if anyone turned it in, and describe what it looks like and what's inside."
I've been practicing these myself, and even though my Chinese isn't bad, I often find myself pausing to think about how to respond.
Stuck? Get help from the AI buddy
One of the coolest features (in my opinion) is the ability to get AI-suggested replies.
If you're not sure how to respond, just tap the suggestion button and the AI will show you a possible answer. I've already found myself using this a lot to learn new ways of saying things.
And if you don't feel like chatting yourself, you can just have the AI buddy talk to itself! It'll basically generate an infinite number of dialogues, so you can perfect your reading and listening comprehension.

Over the next few months, we'll be focusing on improving existing features across the app. We'll polish the AI buddy, smooth out and extend the flashcard system, make the dictionary even more powerful, and overall make everything faster and more intuitive.
And after that? We've got big ideas for the Learning Hub: writing practice, learning with videos, maybe even story-based courses. Keep your eyes peeled 👀
